New General Aviation Airport
Branson West Airport
CMT was selected in 2008 by the City of Branson West for design and construction phase services for the construction of their new general aviation airport in southwest Missouri. This ambitious project provides the city with a new 5,000’ x 75’ runway, full parallel taxiway, terminal apron areas, fueling apron, t-hangar taxiways and landside access roadways and parking lots. The airfield pavements consist of new 6" PCC pavements and the landside pavements are bituminous concrete.
Located in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, the airport site contained significant design and construction challenges associated with the natural steep sloped topography of the area. The city wanted the completion of the work fast-tracked to allow the runway to be opened in calendar year 2009. CMT utilized resources from several aviation groups to complete the plans and to staff the construction observation.
This project represented the culmination of an over 10 year process that the City of Branson West had undertaken to have a new airport constructed for their community. The total construction cost of the airport infrastructure and the related improvements was $18.5 million.
