Master Planning and eALP
Chicago Rockford International Airport
With ample capacity and location in proximity to Chicago, the Chicago-Rockford International Airport (RFD) continues to make significant headway in accommodating additional air carrier demand in northeastern Illinois. Since 1979, CMT has been providing consulting services to assist in that effort. This includes the planning and engineering associated with the fast-track development of a major UPS air cargo hub and continued air cargo facility expansion.
The Greater Rockford Airport Authority selected CMT to complete an update to is Master Plan in 2006. The project included forecast development, with a focus on passenger growth scenarios, and an emphasis on landside and midfield facility requirements and alternatives. In 2008, a second phase Master Plan update was initiated to provide a detailed assessment of air cargo operations. CMT is also leading the development of an electronic Airport Layout Plan (eALP) for the airport under the FAA’s eALP Pilot Program. The objective of this project is to collect new and convert existing GIS data for RFD that complies with FAA Advisory Circulars (AC) 150/5300 - 16A , -17B, and -18B.
