South White River Greenway Trail
Indianapolis, INDIANA

ORd

The completion of the White River Wapahani Trail marked a resurgence in greenway trails in Marion County, Indiana. The extension of this trail from the Indianapolis Zoo to the south to Raymond Street, marked the city's commitment to extending its greenway network. CMT, in conjunction with a local landscape architect, developed construction documents for this challenging project which included five trailhead structures, designed to accentuate Indianapolis's notable skyline, a cantilevered elevated path and numerous drainage enhancements.

As the project neared its completion, additional funding was found through federal allocation. This additional money required that the plans go through the INDOT's Local Public Agency program. CMT had to redesign portions of the project to meet federal and state guidelines and coordinate the eventual completion to the satisfaction of both Indy Parks and INDOT.
