Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

Peru Utilities in Indiana hired CMT to lead the planning and design of the upgrade of the Grissom Aeroplex wastewater treatment plant from a plant capacity 2.0 to 2.6 MGD design average flow and to meet more stringent effluent limitations. The project includes primary screening and grit removal, improved activated sludge treatment that includes biological nutrient removal utilizing vertical loop reactors and reduced bio-solids production employing cannibal reactors, improved secondary clarification and UV disinfection.
CMT staff responsibilities included evaluation of upgrade alternatives, preparation of a preliminary engineering report and facilities plan, design of process, structural, HVAC, electrical, instrumentation, controls, architectural improvements work, development of drawings and specifications, contract documents for bidding, implementation of quality control plans, bidding assistance and construction contract administration services. CMT also coordinated SRF funding with Peru Utilities and the Indiana Finance Authority, and permitting with Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Post-construction services include start-up assistance, operator training, and preparation of operation and maintenance manuals.
