Bike Lane/Shared Lane Delineation

City of Springboro, OH

CMT understands the best practices for bicycle facilities and lanes continues to evolve over time. Further, the most effective bicycle treatment usually varies by roadway type and by the type of bicycle user. With this knowledge, CMT helped the City make informed decisions on how to reallocate the existing cross section of a roadway to accommodate all user types.

CMT provided a design that applied good engineering judgment, based on expertise with bicycle transportation, that works for complex urban/suburban environments. CMT developed traffic control plans for bike lane/shared lane treatments, which provided dedicated bicycle facilities within a tight, existing roadway footprint. Shared facilities were used when adequate space was not available for dedicated facilities.
