Complete Civil Site Planning and Design

Civil Site for Route 66 Commercial Retail Development

City of Springfield, IL

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) was selected to complete civil site planning and design for two retail developments within a 90-acre site in southeast Springfield, IL. Due to traffic impacts and the capacity limitations of the current intersection, significant offsite roadway and utility improvements were required to obtain approval for the 90-acre development. Four completely new city streets were built along with a 1,000-foot extension of 11th Street. In addition, upgrades were required on two existing streets; Hazel Dell Road and 6th Street. Most notable is the design and construction of three new signalized intersections on 6th Street, Lincolnshire and Hazel Dell Road.

Informational sessions were held with the public and the project was approved unanimously by the Springfield City Council.
