Crawford, Murphy & Tilly’s (CMT) Sherry Grable, CPA was recently named to the Springfield Business Journal’s list of Forty Under 40. The Springfield, IL-based publication annually recognizes young professionals in Springfield and the surrounding area based on their leadership and accomplishments, both in their chosen fields, and in their communities. Mrs. Grable is the first-ever woman Controller at CMT and her responsibilities include payroll, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, and analyzing financial data.

“No matter what the task, or how undesirable, Sherry always faces it with a positive attitude and willingness to share her expertise,” said Roger Austin, CMT Senior Vice President. He continued, “In addition to her project responsibilities, Sherry takes great pride in mentoring junior staff as well as developing and executing corporate-wide training. She always makes people feel comfortable and explains new procedures in a way that is effective and easy to remember.”

Mrs. Grable has worked in the Accounting Group at CMT since July of 2017, bringing over 10 years’ experience in public accounting and several years’ experience from other industries. She received dual bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business management from Clarke University and her MBA with a certification in human resources from the University of Illinois Springfield.

For the past three years, Mrs. Grable has been an Executive Board member for the Springfield Old Capitol Art Fair and the Treasurer for her local church where she is a member. She is passionate about supporting military veterans and is an active member of her hometown American Legion Auxiliary. She is also a member of The Well Armed Woman (TWAW), Sangamon-Menard Chapter, a non-profit that educates and empowers women in a safe and non-threatening environment for the effective and responsible self-defense with a firearm.

In her free time, Mrs. Grable enjoys traveling to new destinations with her husband to check-out the local community and events. She attends many sporting events including baseball, hockey and football; spending time with friends and family. She has also been baking for several years and occasionally bakes for various charity events holding auctions. CMT’s employees have reaped the rewards from Mrs. Grable’s baking too!
