CMT awarded scholarships to two students at the annual Purdue University Lyles School of Civil Engineering Scholarship and Awards program on October 10. CMT President Bill Bailey, a Purdue alumi, was on hand to present the scholarships to Amanda Lefebvre and Abdullahi Akorede.
Amanda is a junior from Plainfield, IL focusing on structural engineering with an interest in anthropology. She is very involved with her sorority and other campus activities. Last year, Amanda accompanied Engineers Without Borders on a humanitarian trip to Bolivia. She is on track to graduate in May of 2021 and is still undecided on whether to proceed directly to grad school or join the workforce.
Abdullahi is a senior from Chicago, IL focusing on architectural engineering. His family emigrated from Nigeria in the early 2000s. An outgoing individual, he counts philosophy among his favorite classes. Abdullahi will graduate next May and he’s currently considering job offers, while exploring other opportunities.
CMT is very proud to make these awards to support these hard-working students and help ensure that talented young minds continue to make their way into the engineering profession.
