The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Indiana recently awarded the I-70 Rehabilitation project with the Merit Award at its 2021 Engineering Excellence Awards. CMT provided roadway and bridge design, as well as maintenance of traffic.

CMT provided design services for the pavement rehabilitation of 14 miles of I-70, with rehabilitation plans for eight bridges, for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). Due to the high volume of truck cargo along this route, Maintenance of Traffic was the most critical part of the project design. The reconstruction ultimately took place while maintaining traffic in two lanes throughout daytime hours, making this a first-of-its-kind project for INDOT on a high-traffic interstate corridor.

As the scope of this project evolved significantly throughout design, the team successfully adapted to several challenges. CMT ultimately provided creative solutions to get the project successfully constructed before another tough, Indiana winter set in. We are proud to have played a part in this project and thankful to ACEC-IN for this distinguished award.
