SPRINGFIELD, IL – Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) was recently selected to lead the Springfield-Sangamon County Active Transportation Plan in Springfield, IL.

The project focuses on developing an all-ages and all-abilities network for walking, biking, and taking public transportation. The objectives of the project include increasing active transportation through a better-connected county network; enhancing mobility; providing improved access to work, schools, shopping, and other recreational opportunities; promoting physical activity; improving community health; and reducing emissions of greenhouse gases related to transportation.

The plan is the community’s first active transportation plan to include public transportation and will serve as an important tool for prioritizing active transportation projects for design and construction for several years to come.

The anticipated notice to proceed is scheduled for May 2024, and the approximate planning timeline is 13 months.
