At its annual civil engineering awards dinner, the Illinois Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ISASCE) honored Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) Transportation Engineer Jeremy Metz, PE, with the 2025 Young Civil Engineer of the Year Award. The award recognizes early-career professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the civil engineering profession and their communities.

“Jeremy’s dedication and technical expertise have been essential to delivering complex projects and earning the respect of colleagues and clients,” said CMT Project Manager Tice Cole, PE. “He exemplifies the innovation and professionalism that drive our industry, and we’re proud to see him recognized by ISASCE.”

Jeremy has been a vital part of CMT’s Aurora, IL, office for more than seven years, contributing to complex transportation projects across Illinois. His work spans all phases of engineering – from planning and design to construction oversight – on transformative projects such as the 143rd Street Extension in Plainfield, IL, and the Cedar Lake Road Realignment in Lake County, IL. His technical expertise and leadership have helped secure significant infrastructure funding and advance critical mobility improvements.

In addition to his achievements in private sector civil engineering, Jeremy actively contributes to the advancement of the profession through his various roles in industry organizations. Since 2019, he has held multiple leadership roles within ISASCE, including serving as the Younger Member Group Chair (2025-2026) and Vice Chair (2024-2025). He has also contributed to the Transportation and Development Institute as Treasurer (2024–2025) and Communications Director (2022-2024). Jeremy earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

At the same event, ISASCE also recognized CMT’s Longmeadow Parkway Corridor and River Bridge project in Kane County, IL, with the Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement Award in the over $100 million category, highlighting the firm’s continued commitment to excellence and innovation in transportation infrastructure.
