Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) Senior Vice President and Water Resources Business Unit Director Raed Armouti, PE, was recently named 2026 Outstanding PE in Private Practice by the St. Louis Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE).

This recognition reflects Raed’s nearly four decades of dedication to the water and wastewater profession and a career defined by technical excellence, practical insight, and trusted leadership across every phase of project delivery.

Raed has provided sustained leadership as CMT’s Water Resources Business Unit Director for the past eight years. In this role, he has helped guide the growth and evolution of the unit, expanding technical capabilities, mentoring emerging leaders, and supporting increasingly complex water and wastewater projects across the firm’s footprint. His leadership has emphasized collaboration, quality, and long-term client relationships – principles that have strengthened both the business unit and the communities it serves.

His path to leadership began with his civil engineering education at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE). After earning his bachelor’s degree in 1986, Raed spent four years working in the construction industry; this experience included three years in Jordan and one year in the St. Louis Metro area. He later transitioned into engineering consulting, joining CMT in Aurora, IL, in 1990. In 1995, Raed returned to St. Louis to work on Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District projects for CMT. Over the years, he has been fortunate to develop strong personal and professional relationships with many clients throughout the St. Louis Metro region.

Raed’s expertise spans a wide range of water infrastructure projects – from treatment facilities and pumping stations to storage tanks and complex distribution and collection systems – and was developed through diverse roles such as project engineer, resident engineer, project manager, and QA/QC reviewer. In these capacities, he has guided multidisciplinary teams, provided strategic direction during project development, and implemented rigorous quality assurance and quality control processes grounded in engineering best practices and prior construction experience.

With his foundation in construction combined with his design knowledge, Raed is uniquely equipped to provide invaluable insight into constructability and construction sequencing, strengthening the efficiency and reliability of the water resources solutions CMT provides to clients. This perspective has remained consistent throughout his career, reflecting a deep commitment to advancing the quality and reliability of essential water infrastructure.

Raed is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, and Tennessee.
