Twenty-five Years of Work Results in Vital Connection
11th Street Extension
This project consisted of providing the necessary Phase I and Phase II engineering services associated with extending 11th Street from Toronto Road to Stevenson Drive in Springfield, IL. Several alignments were studied for the new construction and reconstruction of this facility. The 11th Street corridor was planned to become the primary route to the nearby campuses, providing much needed relief on South Sixth Street and Toronto Road. The construction of the final five-lane extension along with accommodation of access to adjacent properties will increase the level of service and capacity for future traffic and the potential for development in this area.
CMT maintained a good working relationship with Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) officials, which was instrumental in obtaining the necessary approvals for this federally funded project. CMT prepared exhibits and assisted with public informational meetings to obtain input from neighboring subdivisions and local officials.
