Blending Modern Interiors with a Historic Setting

The attorneys of Sorling Northrup practice in the shadow of the historic Old State Capitol in Springfield, IL, just one block away from Abraham Lincoln’s law office. Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) designed a complete renovation of the 22,000 SF second floor of the PNC Building, itself an exemplar of modern architecture.

The lobby of the law office was designed to embrace the view of the Old State Capitol and the city’s historic downtown. To respect the building’s modern aesthetics, the interior work replicated the ceiling-height wood doors, vertical glass, and walnut panels. Based on the client’s needs, a total interior renovation provided a new layout of lobby space, 40 offices, open office space, six conference rooms, restrooms, workrooms, and a break room.

CMT provided architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, along with multiple property inspections and evaluations. Our designers also assisted the client with furniture and art selections.
