Enhancing Passenger Convenience
New Passenger Terminal
We worked with the airport throughout the entire process, beginning with the initial terminal planning study in 2000. With substantial increases in commercial passenger activity and a highly constrained existing terminal, the plan assessed space needs and documented the site selection process that resulted in the recommendation for a new green grass site.
In addition to energy savings in the building, CMT’s design included sustainable stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs), such as pervious pavers, infiltration basins, and an environmentally sensitive stream relocation plan.
CMT also led the FAA coordination and programming processes, including a cost-benefit analysis. Efficient space planning and advocacy on behalf of the client resulted in maximizing federal funding for the new complex by achieving eligibility for 85% of the facility.
The entire $43 million program also included a new apron, taxiways, automobile parking lot, utility services and landside roadway improvements. The final cost came in $3 million under budget and work was completed six months ahead of schedule.
