Passenger Terminal Federal Inspection Station
International Passenger Terminal
For over fourteen years, Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) has provided planning, design, environmental, and program management services for the Quad City International Airport (MLI). In 2012, CMT led a multi-disciplined team in the design of a multi-phased international passenger terminal with a Federal Inspection Station that involved adaptive reuse of an existing 20,000 SF cargo building. CMT provided complete space planning, forecasts, facility requirements, site planning, conceptual layout and cost estimating. The project also involved extensive coordination with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, TSA and FAA for approval, fast track design and construction. In particular, CMT’s eligibility justification coordination with FAA led to the application of Airport Improvement Funds (AIP) to the project. Ultimately, the Airport constructed Phase 1 of the international passenger terminal which included a US Customs General Aviation Facility (GAF) both sized and configured to be expanded into a full Federal Inspection Station (FIS).
