A New Location for the Montgomery County Fair
Relocation of Montgomery County Fair
The existing Montgomery County Fairgrounds was a cornerstone in downtown Dayton, dating back to the pre-civil war era. When the Montgomery County Agricultural Society sold the site, they decided to build new fairgrounds in Jefferson Township on a 240-acre parcel, previously owned by Montgomery County.
In order to finish construction in time to host the annual Montgomery County Fair the next summer, CMT provided site civil, roadway, utility, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services for the new site – including a 40,000 square foot building fast-tracked within two months. The project also included a private water main and public DIP water main to bring water distribution (fire protection and drinking water) to the entire site. Close communication at weekly coordination meetings among the various teams and a GIS interface to share information were key success factors for this project.
