CMT Recognition Summer 2023

Crawford, Murphy & Tilly (CMT) holds company-wide meetings throughout the year to provide progress updates on strategic initiatives, share insights across disciplines and geographies, and recognize professional excellence and outstanding contributions to the firm. During the most recent meeting, CMT’s Recognition Committee, along with CMT CEO and President Bill Bailey, PE, SE, presented three new-to-the-firm awards to deserving individuals. Firm leaders also highlighted milestone employment anniversaries, announced new professional certification recipients, and welcomed the new team members and interns who joined the company in the past year. Recognizing Professional Excellence

CMT’s long-standing employee recognition program is a testament to the firm’s commitment to expressing appreciation for employee contributions and excellence. At the most recent company-wide meeting, CMT’s Recognition Committee introduced three brand-new awards honoring individuals at CMT. All awarded individuals were nominated by colleagues at the firm. Learn more about each of these three new awards – and their inaugural recipients – below:

Emerging Professional Award

This award recognizes individuals who exhibit strong involvement with CMT or professional organizations. It pays tribute to those who serve as positive influences within the firm, demonstrating qualities of service, fellowship, leadership, and unwavering commitment.

Congratulations to Matt DeMoss, EI, CMT’s outstanding Emerging Professional.

Matt is a roadway and railroad engineer who has been an asset in his four years at CMT, working on several projects and new business initiatives including rail and multi-modal park projects. Matt is involved with the Ozarks Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (OSITE), serving as the Vice President of the Board. Matt has also given various presentations on transportation projects to industry groups and universities, including the Missouri chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), as well as Missouri S&T. CMT applauds Matt’s contributions and work to move CMT forward.

Leadership Award

This award recognizes a team member with exceptional leadership qualities – one who inspires and motivates those around them. This recognition is bestowed upon individuals who display initiative in implementing transformative changes, as well as fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity throughout the organization.

Congratulations to Andrew Schlichting, PE, PTOE, the recipient of CMT’s Leadership Award.

Andrew excels at providing leadership that spans functional areas as well as offices across CMT’s footprint. Andrew serves as an exemplary role model, motivating his colleagues and fostering growth. What’s more, he actively engages in business development, excels as a project manager, and skillfully manages client relationships, demonstrating what it looks like to be a leader at CMT.

Mentoring Excellence Award

This award highlights an individual’s commitment to mentoring, developing, and supporting the team. The recognized individual contributes to the growth of their colleagues by nurturing the professional development of others and investing their time to help others reach their full potential. This person recognizes the unique strengths and talents of their team members and skillfully harnesses those qualities to drive success.

Congratulations to Craig Huckaby, the recipient of CMT’s Mentoring Excellence Award.

After a successful 30-year tenure at the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), Craig joined CMT as a construction inspector. Since then, he has proved to be invaluable to the firm, providing guidance to colleagues in the realm of construction. Craig’s contributions extend beyond mentorship; he has, additionally, played a key role in business development. Thanks to his mentorship, not only has the CMT team experienced remarkable growth, but the individuals he works with have also progressed to the next level in their skillsets and careers.

Since July 20, 2022, CMT has welcomed 78 new employees across 17 different offices. CMT is proud of the positive and lasting impact each of these individuals has already made on the organization.

This summer marked a significant milestone for the firm, as CMT welcomed its largest intern class in company history. CMT appreciates the contributions of all 41 of our Summer 2023 interns and is honored to be providing these young professionals with valuable experiences and mentorship to help shape their careers.
