CMT would like to welcome Allen Smith our new Transportation Structural Engineer in the St Louis, MO office. With nearly 30 years’ experience, Mr. Smith spent the first decade of his career with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), including two years with the Bureau of Bridges and Structures, before moving on to the private sector. He has played instrumental roles on many note-worthy bridge projects in the St. Louis area, including the Merchants Bridge Main Span Replacement and the Eads Bridge Rehabilitation. In addition to design and project management experience, Mr. Smith has served as team leader for several major bridge inspections and fracture critical inspections across the country.
Mr. Smith received both his master’s and bachelor’s in civil engineering from the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He went on to serve as an adjunct faculty at the school for ten years. He is a registered professional and structural engineer in the State of Illinois. Mr. Smith volunteers as a structural specialist for Illinois Task Force 1 and St. Clair County Emergency Management Agency.
